Give Back

We have been fortunate enough to walk alongside many amazing people in our life, from diverse cultures, from all over the world. Our beautiful community has shared a lot of wisdom with us and supported our growth and healing. We want to support everyone in our community to thrive and for others to be connected with those we have had the pleasure of walking alongside.

Part of our exploration into doing business differently is figuring out how we can effectively support and give back to the Indigenous communities we are connected to. Based on feedback we have had from community members and Indigenous and First Nations Business mentors, they have advised us that the best way to support community members is to send funds directly to individual community members.

With the lines of trust we have with different communities members this is a way we can contribute effectively to community members we know, without community members having to face several structural obstacles they often have face. Community members we know are often working for free to support their communities and taking on many roles as leaders. Supporting individual community members not only supports the individuals but their family and often a community as a whole.

Please find profiles below from community members we admire and that would love your support.

We hope to co-create a list of people and places around the world that you can give back to soon.

Please reach out if you have any questions or want to provide feedback. We are prototyping all of this and we will see how things go.

Jarmbi a Traditional Custodian of the Githabul and Arakwal peoples.

I had the pleasure of meeting Jarmbi in 2020. I joined his “grounded and connected” meditations with a small group of people every Sunday for three months. This three month guided journey with Jarmbi was the catalyst to me beginning to reconnect more deeply with my ancestors, seek forgiveness and heal ancestral wounds. This was the foundation to finding more peace and resilience within to continue to follow my soul path. I have witnessed Jarmbi in many spaces since then and I have been very inspired by his path and wisdom.

Recently my dear friends at Indigenous & Modern invited me to collaborate on global project they are working on “re-Imagining community led initiatives and scaling from decolonial perspectives, narratives and practices.”

My role is to be a bridge between Indigenous & Modern and the amazing Indigenous leaders I know here in so called Australia - to hold space for our Indigenous leaders to share their voices and wisdom with the world. Jarmbi was on of the first people I got to connect with for this project and he is also the first person to be a part of our for our OLI Wellbeing “give back program”.

Something Jarmbi shared about in our chat was about his vision for the land he is on and that was gifted to him. He wants to provide a space for healing. He wants to co-create a shelter where he can support his community. The land can also be a place for people to come in times of need and natural disasters, these are common in the area.

This is something we really want to support. We know this is something that is so needed in communities. Jarmbi needs $100,000 to build a shelter so he can support his community. He needs tools, materials and equipment. Jamrbi’s vision is to co-create other places like this on other land, hopefully this is the first of many.

Please donate directly to Jarmbi now.

There are other great organizations like First Nations Futures, which has a good model for giving back to First Nations communities in so called Australia where you can support other communities also. Words from First Nations Futures.

“The continuous impacts of colonisation have created unequal ground, where all people living in Australia continually benefit economically from the colonisation of First Nations lands and people. The effects have meant that non-Indigenous people have disproportionate power and access to wealth and resources. While many First Nations community-driven initiatives do not have the sustainable resources to drive the change they want to see. Our communities have been advocating, campaigning and implementing solutions on the ground for generations on limited resources. It is for all people in Australia to take responsibility and redistribute wealth and power in meaningful and ongoing ways.”

Ideally, those that have the means to, we invite you to find Traditional Custodians, leaders and organisations to give back to on the lands you currently live, work and play on around the world.
